Partnership Visits to USA and Australia
Cleveland, United States
As part of the organization’s growing linkage with other NGOs, Habitat Cambodia was invited to Cleveland on October 20 to 24 for a country visit by People for Care and Learning (PCL), an organization that has launched a Build a City project in Andong, one of the notoriously undeveloped relocations sites in Phnom Penh. Representing Habitat for Humanity Cambodia was Country Director, Bernadette Bolo-Duthy, who was joined by His Excellence Kep Chutema, Phnom Penh Municipal Governor and other government officials. The Phnom Penh Delegation to Cleveland program took place in the Sister City, Tennessee Cleveland. The guests were also offered a private tour of the Whirlpool Cleveland Division Manufacturing Facility and another visit to Amazon Factory to learn about their industry, among others.
HFH Cambodia is preparing to provide funding to PCL to build 70 low cost row housing – $1,000 per house – into the “Building City” Project which aims to build 1,500 homes to provide safer and healthy environment for around 6,000 people living in Andong Village, Phnom Penh.
Sydney, Australia
A recent trip to Sydney, Australia aimed at strengthening partnerships through HFH Australia’s World Habitat Day celebration was in September 15 to 19, with Bernadette Bolo-Duthy, Habitat Cambodia Country Director representing the organization. During a cocktail event, Habitat Cambodia Country Director was able to share a presentation highlighting the partnership of Habitat Cambodia, Habitat Australia and The Charitable Foundation and how it has impacted many families through various projects and which sparked discussions and feedback amongst the guests on the transformative changes that they witnessed. “The trip presented new promising opportunities for us and most importantly, it helped us reinforce our existing partnerships and helped lead us to creating new ones.” said Bernadette Bolo-Duthy.
