Dreaming Big in 2013
Dear Partners and Readers,
Yes, there is so much to be grateful for in 2012.
There is the success of our very first Disaster Response initiative in Siem Reap and Kandal. Our HIV OVC housing program was expanded with the creation of a second shelter-based project for PLWHA called Building Homes Building Positive Lives. We signed a 10-year partnership with World Vision Cambodia, serving vulnerable families with integrated housing to World Vision’s area development program expanding our reach to Takeo province. We also expanded our experience in hosting individual donors with the first Habitat for Humanity Hope Journey Build within Asia Pacific headed by HFHI CEO Jonathan Reckford and in hosting themed fund raising builds like the Hands and Hearts. Our Land Rights advocacy project in Battambang City was again extended to another year, which led to the distribution of land certificates to our urban Social Land Concession beneficiaries and the elevation of our Global Village hosting capacity in Battambang.
We are ultimately thankful for the opportunity to prepare and plan for our new strategies in the next 5 years, and as we move closer, we continue to pray for guidance in recognizing our shortcomings and for strength to be bolder and become more courageous in embracing new challenges this 2013.
This year is extra special. It serves as a strong reminder of the many times we failed and learned, of the many times we questioned our purpose and the many times we re-affirmed our commitment to this ministry.
This year, we turn 10 and we also dream bigger and step-up to bigger challenges such as launching the following events and projects:
1 – Launch our 10-year celebration
2 – North Build (Battambang) on April 1 to 5
3 – Habitat Youth Build on April 27
4 – Hope Journey on June 7 to 13
5 – World Habitat Day
6 – Mekong Build on November 3 to 9
7 – Launch sanitation financing in partnership with MFIs
8 – Housing financing support to MFIs
9 – Start a rental development project
10 – Develop housing support services program
HFH Cambodia is in need of your support now more than ever. We invite those who are thinking of donating their time, resources and ideas to HFH Cambodia to do so. Now is the time.
On behalf of the whole Habitat for Humanity Cambodia family and our home partners, I wish to thank all of our partners and donors for their unending support in bringing transformative change. We can’t wait to dream with you and to work with you in reaching our dreams of providing affordable, adequate housing in Cambodia.
