Global Village Wrap Up
January 14 to 23: 12 team members from Canada worked with HFH Cambodia in completing two toilets and two rain water tanks in Reul Community, Siem Reap. With additional efforts to support, the team has also sponsored the repair of one well in Reul Primary Schools and two rain water tanks in Reul and Prolit Primary Schools. Aside from their build work, Canada team also spent time touring Siem Reap, especially the Temples of Angkor.
January 14 to 26: A group of 15-member Global Village team from Hanyang University in Korea joined together with HFH Cambodia to support people in need in Vimean Trung Community, Phnom Penh. During their volunteer build, the team was able to complete the foundation and laying bricks for one house, they painted a school fence, and conducted a hygiene event to 180 students in Trapaing Anhchanh Primary School. At the end of the day, the team celebrated their achievements by inviting home partners and skilled workers for a Korean style grilled pork lunch.
January 19 to 26: 17 Global Village volunteers from Australia reached out to help Cambodian families in Trapaing Anhchanh Community, Phnom Penh and completed building one brick house and one wooden house. At the end of the build, the team celebrated together with home partners and skilled workers through a heart-felt dedication and finished with a hearty lunch party.
January 21 to 25: Another 17-member Global Village volunteer team from USA supported the water and sanitation project in Siem Reap by building family latrines and rain water tanks in Pouk District, Siem Reap. Working hard until noon of their last day, the team was able to completely build 3 toilets and 4 rain water tanks and celebrated their accomplishments by treating the villagers for lunch.
February 12 to 21: Another Global Village volunteer team from Japan’s Kwansei-Gakuin University named Eco-Habitat came to assist families in Bati District, Takeo Province engaging in their first construction work experience.The team successfully completed the build of two houses for 2 home partner families. They all joyfully celebrated their accomplishments with skilled workers, home partners and other community members with lots of dancing and singing.
February 14 to 22: Volunteers from South Korea formed their own big group of 25 members and committed to build a house for a family living in Prek Preah Sdach Commune, Battambang. During their volunteer experience, the team was able to complete one brick house and volunteered to clean the community by picking up rubbish. The Korean team also took opportunity to experience the bamboo train in the day and enjoyed the circus show during one of their nights in Batambang town. As they celebrated held the dedication, the volunteers danced for the home partners in thanking them for being very welcoming. This team build was the first official Global Village build held in Battambang.
February 16 to 24: 24 members from China built two houses located in Kok Kleang Community, Phnom Penh. On their last building day, the group of students from Confucius International School Qingdao called HFH Builders managed to finish foundations for two houses and finally celebrated their accomplishments together with skilled workers and home partners during the house dedication ceremony.
February 18 to 22: A group of corporation volunteers from HIS Tour Company in Japan formed together a team to install an Aqua Tower for hundreds of students and community people in need of clean water in Chambok Her Primary School, Pouk districit, Siem Reap. February 18 to 22: 16 Global Village volunteers from United States supported the need of students in schools with HFH Cambodia by constructing and installing two rain water tanks for Tropaing Tom Primary School and Reul Boyung Secondary School, Siem Reap. Taking the opportunity to give further support, the team also donated study materials such as notebooks and pens to students in both schools.
